The Inn at Lucky Mud

                                      2008

       Greetings from Skamokawa

                       It's (finally) sum- sum- summertime.

We rang in the summer solstice with the opening night

of Smoky Water Follies, a vaudeville show we put

on at the Skamokawa Grange. Check out some numbers

on U-Tube (soon). It was a great success (despite my

wardrobe malfunction). Don't miss next year's sequel!

(Note the beautiful, new blue velvet curtain!)

Our garden is overflowing with delicious organic produce

and tasty herbs. For those of you who can't say enough

about our dinners, we are also now serving local grass-fed,

corn-finished beef, and of course local free-range eggs for

          breakfast.

Our annual Fern Burner Disc Golf Tournament is

coming up fast on July 12. These people really spiff up

the landscaping around here for the event. If you like

colorful viewing, here's one to see. Sorry, all rooms are

booked, but spectators are welcome. And there's a very

          good lunch!

Wahkiakum County's big event, Bald Eagle Day, will be

in Cathlamet on Saturday, July 19. There's a parade, live

          entertainment, even a beer garden.

And the next month is the 100th birthday of the Wahkiakum

County Fair. We're celebrating with the theme

Locally Grown for 100 Years!

This tiny fair is about as authentic as it gets and is a lot of

fun. It runs August 22-24. We're just up the Valley Road

          from the fairgrounds.

And finally, for you wine lovers, the Friends of Skamok-

awa's annual Wine Tasting and Auction will be held in our

newly-renovated Skamokawa Grange Hall. (Again, just

up the Valley Road for nearby retreat!).  Saturday, Sep-

tember 13. This fundraiser supports the beautiful Redmen

Hall in downtown Skamokawa, our tiny town.

How about some FREE GAS! For those reading this

newsletter, we will reimburse you for half your round-

trip gas (up to $40) for any two-night stay here this summer

in the beautiful and enchanting "middle of nowhere."

Stay healthy and happy,

Sunrise and Jessica Fletcher
